Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation

Texas Infinites is proud to support the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) in their efforts to find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes. JDRF is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of Type 1 diabetics by hosting various events and spearheading research into the causes and solutions of insulin dependent diabetes mellitus. Community involvement is based on raising funds through participation in charitable events, such as various chapter specific events, Ride for a Cure, advocacy through Congress and Leadership committees, and (the most well known) Walk to Cure Diabetes.

Type 1 Diabetes exists in more than 3 million Americans. Type 1 Diabetes occurs when the body’s immune system attacks the cells responsible for insulin development, a hormone necessary in the breakdown of sugar for energy. Warning signs include: extreme thirst, frequent urination, drowsiness, sudden weight loss, heavy breathing, sugar in urine, and unconsciousness. If you or someone you know are exhibiting these symptoms, contact a doctor immediately.

In the past on October 26th, 2014, Texas Infinites teamed up with Libia’s Liberators to walk in Austin, Texas. After months of fundraising, Libia’s Liberators - Texas Infinites received sponsorship from TLC Aerospace Services and CustomInk to raise over $2,000 to the cause, receiving a Bronze Award for their efforts. In this upcoming year, Texas Infinites hopes to reach a goal of $5,000 before the walk.

MD Anderson Cancer Center

Each spring, Texas Infinites devotes its philanthropic efforts to a cause that is very near to our hearts. MD Anderson Cancer Center is not only dedicated to directly caring for cancer patients, but research, education, and prevention as well. Designated by the National Cancer Act of 1971, it is one of the original three comprehensive cancer centers in the U.S. It was established as part of The University of Texas System in 1941 by the Texas Legislature. MD Anderson has been ranked the nation's top hospital for cancer care by the U.S. News & World Report's "Best Hospitals" survey. Their mission is " to eliminate cancer in Texas, the nation, and the world through outstanding programs that integrate patient care, research and prevention, and through education for undergraduate and graduate students, trainees, professionals, employees and the public." Texas Infinites is honored to contribute to such a worthy cause.
